Saturday's Farmers Market
San Francisco greeted us with a beautiful sunrise and a blue sky this morning. The perfect setting to visit the farmers market. I headed over around 6:45am to get good parking (got the closest spot) and be ready to hit up the outdoor stalls at 7am. They officially don’t open until 8am but I’ hoped they would open sooner. They did around 7:30am.  The stores inside the Ferry Building...

The Grass-Fed Ribeye
I stopped eating (i.e. cook with) corn-fed beef after I read The Omnivore’s Dilemma. I knew that it didn’t taste as well as the grass-fed but was happily ignorant of how destructive the past 50-years of corn agribusiness has been to our national health (obesity problem - hello?). So now I get our grass-fed beef from Marin Sun Farms - a local, sustainable farm that offer healthy and...

Our Fall Bordeaux Trip
I’m happy to admit that my love for Bordeaux wines is an acquired taste. I grew up with wines from Italy and France. Mostly Chiantis and Beaujolais wines. During college I was introduced to Burgundy and Rioja wines. During my travels I’ve tried everything from Australian Syrah’s to Argentinean Malbec’s, realizing I like pretty much any red wines… Ironically enough,...

More downside for SF real estate prices
About two years ago - on September 25, 2006 - I wrote this blog about staying out of the real estate market until a recovery is confirmed. Since then the real estate prices in the SF Bay area has fallen close to 25% per the Case-Schiller Index. Nouriel Roubini, professor in economics at NYU Stern, argues that it will take another 12-18 months until the housing recession is bottoming out. Note...

Apple slashing prices to gain market share?
Techticker is making a very strong argument that Apple’s weaker Q408 and ‘09 outlook released yesterday is due to lower product prices to gain market share. This would be an excellent strategy, to kick the PC community where (price) it hurts the most when (recession) it hurst the most. They already own the high-quality and innovative mind space. The challenge with this strategy is...

Farmers Market
Saturday means farmers market at the Ferry Building. We did get a slow start this morning due to a fun late night with some friends in the Mission. Our walk to the market took about 30 minutes (2 miles) and we reached the market at around 1pm - probably the busiest time. Note to self: Get there before 8am. We grabbed some nectarines that tastes like heaven, beef and chicken from Marin Sun Farms,...

Simplification or How to Reduce The Noise!
Being busy creates a perception of productivity. Always in motion is the ultimate accomplishment. Adrenaline and multi-tasking is the new entertainment drug. Fame has become the highest form of enlightenment. Being wanted is so…. Paris! Being slave to new media is so… pathetic! Hmm, what happens if we start to rethink these truths? The challenge is that we are being bombarded with...

More Free Time
So I got the gift bag from last nights Guy Kawasaki party. Mostly female stuff including the magazine Real Simple. I’ve always liked the idea of real simple, never the magazine. It’s too… soccer-momish with lots of common sense advice. Anywho, I found an article titled More Free Time which is about how to create some *me* time as a busy mom/housekeeper/business woman/~infinity....
