My Hip Surgery
I’ve *suffered* from Legg-CalvĂ©-Perthes syndrome for the past 35+ years. It’s practically a collapsed hip joint which makes it hard and very painful to walk, run, ski et cetera. The pain reached it’s apex during the past year and I decided - with the encouragement from a family friend and surgeon - to do hip replacement surgery.
My date is set and I’m now preparing myself as per instructions: full deep dental cleaning (done), giving blood, pre-surgery classes, full physical exam, lots of walking et cetera.
I’m excited and nervous. Looking forward to when I can move around w/o pain and do the sports I love so much: snowboard, surfing, wakeboard, skateboarding, biking et cetera w/o pain. But the surgery is anything but simple. It will take a few hours and the recovery is about 2-3 months. The first days after the surgery will be the scariest, not knowing what will happen or how I’ll feel.
If I need a cane I’ll definitely go for the Dr House walking cane with flames to match my short-board. ;)
