No More New Year Resolutions
I’ll probably have reached 40% of my 2010 resolution by December 31 and that at first feels like a “failure”. But then again, I’ve read 40+ fantastic books during on of my busiest years ever. And that is pretty darn cool.
I think resolutions are social and cultural demands that we haven’t lived up to but get a second chance by postponing them for another year. Things that we think we should do or be, like reading, learning a new language, losing weight, working out et cetera to be commonly accepted as successful, ambitious and ingenious. Bollocks, I’d say.
No more planning, no more resolutions, no more incremental steps to satisfy fear and greed. Life is about living, enjoying every day, being reminded of the magic of being healthy, sane (somewhat) and in-tune with yourself.
Planning diverts focus from the here and now to the there and then. The future is never the reality, it’s just a point in time beyond present. It cannot be felt, enjoyed or embraced. It will eventually just roll around the corner and become the present.
So why not just live in the present, to stay aligned with what’s real and worry about what might happen when it happens. To live life without any safety nets, any worries or big bombastic “Let’s Conquer The World” plans.
That’s my resolution for 2011! ;)
My New Year’s Resolution

I’ll be more fearless, open-minded and adventurous in my work, life and travels. I’ll let people, art, books and real food inspire my life. I’ll let perspective rule over details, embrace what really matters and focus on the bigger picture.
I’ll challenge myself and others to ask why, to look for the truth, to think for themselves. I’ll focus on mind, body and soul. I’ll trail-blaze but also follow, balancing my ego with the universal truth.
I’ll minimize consumption to necessities, freeing up time for friends, freedom and thought. I’ll live vicariously through ideas, people and travels. I’ll dare to be inspired and inspire to greatness.
I’ll love every day as if it would be the last. Greet the sun in the morning and wave the sunset auf wiedersehen.
